AI Recommended Differential Diagnosis (DDx)

Introducing AI Recommended DDx, the newest tool in your busy practice. It is a feature designed to act as your friendly reference book. By analyzing patient symptoms and medical history from your final note, this feature offers a list of possible conditions, ranking by the possibility, that could be causing the issues. It simplifies the search process for healthcare professionals, allowing them to consider various options quickly and make more informed decisions. 

Why we built this

Differential diagnosis is an essential aspect of a clinician’s workflow, yet it can be time-consuming and resource-intensive, often requiring reference to textbooks, the latest research, or online databases. These challenges can lead to a cursory approach, incomplete searches, or difficulty in accessing information on rare conditions.

Our AI-recommended differential diagnosis (DDx) feature addresses these barriers by simplifying the process to a single click. Clinicians can supplement with additional clinical details, inquire into the rationale behind suggestions, and thereby enhance the accuracy and efficiency of their diagnostic process.

How it Works

1. Open the SOAP note for the patient encounter that you would like a differential diagnosis for.
2. Click on the purple magic wand to launch the Smart Edit chat box. Then select "AI DDx"  

   
   

   
   

3. EMMA will surface ranked differential diagnoses for each condition reviewed in the note along with citations and links to articles for each recommendation. 

4. You can click on each link to review the recommendation in further detail or copy the results into your EMR/ your patient note.
